MISSION
The Checkmate Foundation is an initiative that aims to equalize opportunities for youth and vulnerable populations by fostering development through chess education.
PROCESS
We are a non-profit that believes that every youth deserves the opportunity to discover novel passions and find significance or purpose in their interests despite socioeconomic circumstances. We strive to promote academic guidance through the form of chess by providing troubled youth with the necessary resources to learn and improve in chess.
VISION
We also hope to beyond the scope of chess education through hosting free programs at libraries, community centers, and schools; encouraging youth to incorporate valuable elements from chess into their own lives. With the help of a dedicated team and partnerships with organizations across Calgary, the Checkmate Foundation is focused on providing a positive environment to under-represented demographics of vulnerable or less fortunate youth city-wide.
