Where is the money going?
We run a lot of workshops across the city for many demographics including seniors, new immigrants, and students like yourself. These workshops need funding for snacks and storage containers for the chess supplies. Not only will you be supporting a positive impact on your community, but also have the chance to compete and have fun with your friends! For more information, please visit checkmatefoundation.ca

Rules:Amenities:Participants will be provided with pizza and pop during the break between rounds 4 and 5 (around 5:40PM).Pizza options include peperoni and cheese (each participant will receive 1 slice of their choice) A wide selection of drinks will be available (1 per participant)
Classic chess with time control 10 | 0. Touch move rules apply. The tournament is divided into sections based on grade (4-8 & 9-12).
Wins and byes are worth 1 point while losses are worth none. Draws are worth 1/2 points.
First, second, and third place players in each section will receive a 40$, 30$, and 20$ VISA gift card respectively.
Tie Break Rules:
If players in the top 4 have the same points, they will be paired up against each other for a final round to determine a winner in an Sudden Death time format ( 0 | 10 ).
